30.06.15 - Lecture "Computer simulation of atherosclerotic arteries - New possibilities in medical diagnostics and therapeutics?"
as part of the Lecture Series of the newly appointed OpenTopic tenure track professors under the motto "bugs, madness and changing values". The lecture series is aimed at all interested audience both inside and outside the University. It is part of the "Wissensbrücken" (Bridges of knowledge) platform. This event format of the University of Excellence TU Dresden seeks to capture the various aspects of the “Synergetic University” and to demonstrate approaches to finding solutions for the complex challenges of the 21st century in a dialogue involving science, business, culture and politics.
Cardio-vascular diseases are among the most common causes of death worldwide. In particular, arteries that have degenerated as a result of atherosclerosis are the main reason for the development of these diseases and consequently, there is great medical interest concerning the analysis and optimisation of diagnostic and therapeutic methods. In the lecture, aspects of computer simulation of such diseased artery walls were presented and discussed with reference to their potential in clinical practice.
