Institute Association
In order to support hydraulic engineering research and teaching, university lecturers and staff of the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Technical Hydromechanics of the Technische Universität Dresden founded a non-profit association, the "Gesellschaft der Förderer des Hubert-Engels-Instituts für Wasserbau und Technische Hydromechanik der Technischen Universität Dresden e. V.” [Association for the Hubert Engels Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Technical Hydromechanics of the Technische Universität Dresden], on May 24, 1991. It currently consists of over 150 personal and fee paying members associated with the Dresden School of Hydraulic Engineering.
The purposes of the Association are to promote scientific research, to inform members and the public about the research and experimental work of the Institute, to promote education and training, and to promote environmental and landscape protection. For example, it supports the publication of the Dresdner Wasserbaulichen Mitteilungen [Dresden Hydraulic Engineering Reports], which after a hiatus have been published since 1990, and actively participates in the preparation and implementation of the annual Dresdner Wasserbaukolloquium [Dresden Hydraulic Engineering Colloquium] and the accompanying technical exhibition. In addition, the Association lends financial support for student excursions, the submission of applications for research projects, the procurement of technical equipment for the hydro-engineering experimental hall as well as the administration and expansion of the Association's library according to the budget decided by the members.
