Slowed down or started rolling? Findings from the corona pandemic for future transport systems
Faculty colloquium of the Faculty of Transportation and the Center for Advancing Electronics takes up the topic
Corona has the world firmly under control. And not just from a medical point of view, but in all areas of social life. People are less mobile, stay at home more often or think carefully about which means of transport they use in order to minimize the risk of infection.
Scientists from the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transportation Sciences at TU Dresden are looking into the effects of global issues such as a pandemic on people's mobility behavior and are exchanging ideas with researchers from other universities - currently within an (online) faculty colloquium in the 2020 winter semester / 21st “Transport research at the cutting edge, that is our approach in the Faculty of Transport Sciences. That is why we take up current developments such as a pandemic when it affects traffic and mobility. And it certainly has, ”says Prof. Regine Gerike, Vice Dean Research of the Faculty and Head of the Professorship for Integrated Traffic Planning and Road Traffic Technology at the TU Dresden.
The Faculty of Transportation Science "Friedrich List" at the TU Dresden:
The faculty is Germany's only faculty for traffic sciences with a diverse range of topics and research under one roof. Teaching and research have been carried out here since 1873. Today there are 20 professorships at seven institutes. There are also 210 other scientists. The faculty offers 6 of its own study programs, including the diploma course in traffic engineering, the bachelor's degree in traffic economics and 4 master's courses. Research and teaching focus on economic, spatial planning, social and ecological aspects of mobility. In addition, there are future topics such as automated and networked mobility, traffic safety and urban transport. The 1,100 students have around 30 laboratories or experimental and test facilities available for practical applications.
