Opening Ceremony of the 45th UNEP/UNESCO/BMU International Postgraduate Course on Environmental Management for Developing Countries
The 45th UNEP/UNESCO/BMU UNEP/UNESCO/BMU International Postgraduate Course on Environmental Management for Developing Countries started this week. The CIPSEM course runs for six months until mid-July 2022.
Numerous participants, invited guests, speakers, organisers and interested parties gathered virtually for the opening ceremony. A special feature of the course: the participants are once again on location in Dresden and can thus experience the cultural exchange at first hand. Besides Prof. Dr. Uta Berger (TUD), Prof. Ronald Tetzlaff (TUD), Ms. Lola Müller (BMU), Mr. Ralph Wollmann (UBA) also welcomed this year's participants. One participant, Mr. Martin Bartels, a native of Ghana, reported on his expectations of the course and the great anticipation. Through the CIPSEM courses, a strong network of scholars and regional actors is created all over the world. Alumna Hasmik Barseghyan from Armenia welcomed the participants and shared her experiences from her CIPSEM course three years ago with the audience. According to Barseghyan, her personal and professional development was positively influenced by her participation.
All agreed that the participants would gain a lot of knowledge about climate change and global challenges in the coming weeks and months. Learning together allows the participants, who come from very diverse academic backgrounds, to learn from each other. Fortunately, this year's course again offers the opportunity to travel and thus to get to know cultures and to reflect on oneself in the world. Through networking, new friendships and colleges may be formed.
