TU Dresden at THE Global Sustainable Development Congress 2024
TUD Dresden University of Technology (TU Dresden) is taking part in the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) as an exhibitor. This is organized by Times-Higher-Education (THE) and will take place from 10 to 13 June 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. THE is bringing together around 3,000 international thought leaders and innovators at the third GSDC to discuss solutions to the sustainability challenge.
On the second day of the event, the important THE Impact Rankings 2024 will also be announced in an exclusive live presentation. THE Impact Ranking is the only global ranking table in which universities are assessed against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since 2022, TU Dresden has been participating in THE Impact Ranking with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) with an excellent global ranking of 59.
Participation in the GSDC underlines the University of Excellence TU Dresden's commitment to sustainability and offers a very good opportunity to showcase the diversity of its efforts towards a sustainable future.
It complements existing offerings, such as the broad portfolio of sustainability-related international Master's degree programs(Water Security and Global Change, Hydro Science and Engineering and Tropical Forestry) and projects and programs(ABCD-Centre, CIPSEM, COMPOLL) which are anchored in the areas of activity teaching of the recently published sustainability strategy.
In addition, the successful sustainability initiatives Green Office, Sustainable Campus and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) from the areas of activity Campus and Operations of the sustainability strategy are presented.
However, as sustainability is always a shared commitment and a collective engagement, the GSDC will also continue to network with important academic institutions on the topic of sustainable development in research and teaching (e.g. ASEAN University Network), with non-university stakeholders (e.g. from the United Nations - UNEP, UNDP, UNESCO) and also with partners from industry.
In a statement issued for the congress, THE describes its content as follows: "The Congress challenges conventional thinking about what universities, governments, businesses and society need to do to help society achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is a call to action for global universities to align their education, research, innovation and outreach programs to deliver tangible results."
With its active presence at the GSDC, TU Dresden shows that it follows this call to action and is actively involved in its implementation.
