The graduate of the month February comes from geodesy
Klara Töpfer studied geodesy and has remained professionally loyal to her subject and the city of Dresden to this day. The tasks of the Office for Geodata and Cadastre, of which she is the head, include the collection, updating and processing of spatial information. To do this, her department collects geodata itself with laser scanners, drones and total stations or uses existing data and images. These 2D and 3D data are the basis for modeling urban flood protection or on topics such as mobility and traffic or energy and the environment.
It all started with a fascination for logic. She found it particularly interesting to identify problems and then solve them. That's why mathematics and geography were among her favorite subjects at school. Consequently, she studied geodesy, as she found this to be a good mix of both.
