Review of the Faculty Day of Environmental Sciences - That was "Let's get together 2025"
A big family reunion of the environmental sciences, consisting of the Forestry, Geo and Hydro Sciences departments, is already history again. All faculty members were invited to the faculty meeting on May 21, 2025 - Dies Academicus - in the Hülsse-Building. The Department of Geo Sciences had come up with a varied, attractive program: three inaugural lectures by the newly appointed professors Prof. Martin Behnisch (Chair of Spatial Information and Modelling, joint appointment associated with IÖR), Prof. Ferdinand Maiwald (Chair of Optical 3D-Metrology) und Juniorprofessor Marcus Hübscher (Junior Professorship in Sustainable Urban Futures) were prepared to inspire the audience. They have now been officially welcomed to the faculty.
Another highlight were the two exciting, entertaining poster pitches by the students on excursions and the doctoral students who presented their dissertation topics. In the poster exhibition (thanks CFEA for the walls!), all participants were able to obtain more in-depth information during the breaks. The international students' science slam and the numerous workshops for students, doctoral students, postdocs and employees with specially tailored offers in the afternoon were once again a complete success. It was even possible to learn more about the history of the Hülsse and Schumann Building Memorial in a guided tour (once in German and once in English). Many thanks to the staff of the Gedenkstätte Münchner Platz Dresden for the guided tours!
The day ended in the Hülsse-Park with cool drinks and a small snack in perfect weather.
We would like to say THANK YOU to all the active participants and workshop leaders as well as all the hard-working hands who helped before, during and during the clean-up!
Let's look forward to next year and wish everyone a pleasant summer break!
The organization team wishes you all the best for the exams in the summer semester.
