The COST Action ARiF - Augmented Reality In Forestryinvites you to two exciting, back-to-back events in 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱! We are looking for interdisciplinary talents – from forestry and ecology to game design, software development, and digital arts.

Whether you are an experienced developer, a creative designer, an environmental expert, or simply curious about exploring new ideas, your perspective will be valuable!

📚  𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟭: 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹
* Title: Augmented Reality for Forestry: From Concepts to Applications
* Date: 7–9 September 2026
* Location: Joensuu, Finland
* Program: Expect an intensive three-day program featuring lectures, demonstrations, hands-on sessions, and a field exercise in a Finnish research forest.
* Target Audience: Early-career researchers, PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers from relevant fields.

💻  𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟮: 𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻
* Title: Gamifying Nature: An Augmented Reality Hackathon for Forests and Landscapes
* Date: 10–11 September 2026
* Location: Lahti, Finland
* Program: Working in multidisciplinary teams, you will design and prototype AR experiences inspired by the forests and geology of the Saimaa UNESCO Global Geopark.

Combination: The hackathon is closely connected to the training school, and it is possible to take part in both events. Travel from Joensuu to Lahti by train (approx. 3.5 hours) will be coordinated for those attending both.
