Ecology of alien species in a regional and cross-regional perspektive
In the federal state of Saxony, similar to other regions of Central Europe, alien, neophytic species constitute a significant proportion of the flora. Thereby, they build up new vegetation types barely investigated so far. Within study theses the phytosociological affiliation of selected alien species will be investigated in Saxony. Furthermore, the regional results are to be compared to findings in other regions in Germany and adjacent countries.
These studies aim on the ecological characterization of barely investigated vegetation types as well as on the differentiated evaluation of the impact of alien species on the indigenous flora and vegetation. Based on these results, practical recommendations for the necessity and means of adapated management will be given.
