Welcome to our webpage!
Research and teaching of the Chair of Forest Growth and Woody Biomass Production concentrates on a theme central in forestry: "forest growth". Special emphasis is on understanding the complex interactions between tree growth / ecophysiological parameters, environment, and forest management. We are, however, not only interested in the forests of today, but also in the composition and dynamics of forests in the past.
Profile
Our research focuses on responses of forest ecosystems to environmental changes, like the current climate change, as well as on the question how forest management activities may counteract possible adverse effects. Further, we work on reconstructing forest and vegetation history in the Erzgebirge using subfossil wood and charcoal remains.
Teaching activities are closely related to our research.
