Research
How resilient are trees to drought? What role do phenotypic plasticity and genetic adaptation play for forests under climate change? And what did forests look like in the past? These are just some of the questions addressed by the Chair of Forest Growth and Woody Biomass Production.

Research activities
Research at the Chair of Forest Growth and Woody Biomass Production focuses on three main areas:
-
Global change ecology: Relationships and interactions between forest growth, ecophysiological parameters and environmental conditions, tree genetics, ecosystem processes, and forest management.
-
Methods of forest growth research: Development and refinement of methods to quantitatively assess and predict forest growth.
-
Forest and vegetation history: Reconstruction of forest composition over the past ~1,000 years.
