Research
How resistant are trees against drought? Which role do phenotypic plasticity and genetic adaptation play for forests under climate change? How do forest management activities affect growth responses of trees? These are just some questions that the Chair of Forest Growth and Woody Biomass Production is working on.

Research activities
Research at the Chair of Forest Growth and Woody Biomass Production centres around the areas:
- Global change ecology: Relationships and interactions between forest growth / ecophysiological parameters and environmental conditions, tree genetics, ecosystem processes, and forest management intervention.
- Methods of forest growth research: Advancement of methods to quantitatively assess and predict forest growth.
- Sustainable wood and biomass production: Development of methods and principles for sustainable production in diverse land-use systems, ranging from forests to short-coppice rotations.
