Research
How resistant are trees against drought? Which role do phenotypic plasticity and genetic adaptation play for forests under climate change? How did the forest look like in former times? These are just some questions that the Chair of Forest Growth and Woody Biomass Production is working on.
Research activities
Research at the Chair of Forest Growth and Woody Biomass Production centres around the areas:
- Global change ecology: Relationships and interactions between forest growth / ecophysiological parameters and environmental conditions, tree genetics, ecosystem processes, and forest management interventions.
- Methods of forest growth research: Advancement of methods to quantitatively assess and predict forest growth.
- Forest and vegetation history: Reconstruction of forest composition over the last ~1.000 years.
