DFG Roundtable discusses research challenges in Geoinformatics
On 25 – 26 January 2018 a DFG Roundtable on „New solutions for distributed geodata modeling, ad-hoc integration and analysis“ took place at the Technische Universität Dresden. Organized by Lars Bernard (TU Dresden), Jochen Schiewe (Hafen City University Hamburg) and Monika Sester (Leibniz University Hannover), about 30 researchers from the fields of Geoinformatics, distributed databases and Artificial Intelligence discussed new research fields.
Both days started with three 10 minute pitches on key aspects, such as Geodata modeling, data fusion and analysis and spatial reference datasets. Afterwards, the researchers discussed and elaborated research questions in three smaller groups. At the end of each day, the discussions and research ideas were presented and discussed with all participants. The researchers also had the opportunity to discuss personal research interests and ongoing projects during the evening buffet and coffee breaks.
The next step for the organizers is to structure the results of the Roundtable and present them to the German Research Foundation (DFG).
