Thesis Topics
Here you will find a list of possible topics for your thesis with the respective contact persons and supervisors. If you are interested in specific research questions or have your ideas for cartographic projects, individual Bachelor [BA] and Master [MA] topics can also be arranged.

Keywords: Graph theory, community detection, centrality, web visualization, Open data
Motivation:
- Graph base knowledge graph can present complex topic with enhanced readability
- Using graph based data science algorithm (GDS) even can be adopted to explore multi-dimensional parameters
Specific Tasks:
- Conducting a brief literature review to conceptualize on graph based data science algorithm (GDS) and applications
- Feasibility study in adoption of GDSA (centrality, similarity, community detection) using Neo4J
- Using open multi-temporal database on large cities in Germany
- Publish the results in an open web-interface
Expected Output:
- State of art in net-zero carbon city concept
- Potential application of open data for mapping and identification of urban fabrics
- Creating and publishing geodata product for supporting evidence based NZC planning policy
- Optional 1: Prototype toolbox for extraction, harmonization and visualization of NZC spatial planning strategies
- A written master thesis
Key Requirements:
- Familiar and interested on spatial science topics among others settlement and land use system.
- Knowledge on scripting language SQL, Python, R
