Meet our group at the Long Night of the Sciences 2023!
This Friday, on June 30th, the annual Dresden Long Night of the Sciences will take place for the 20th time. From 5pm to midnight, interested people can visit universities, research institutions and science-related companies throughout the city and experience science and research as well as culture and innovation up close. The varied and diverse programme consisting of around 700 events - including lectures, experiments, guided tours, exhibitions and films – has offers for everyone. The programme and further information about the participating institutions and the free public transport ticket for the evening can be found here. The Junior Professorship for Environmental Remote Sensing will also be taking part for the first time this year! Together with our colleagues from the Junior Professorship for Geosensor Systems and the Professorship for Photogrammetry, we will present some of our current research topics and show selected results as well as illustrative impressions of our everyday research. The centrepiece of our booth will be a 3D model of the Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland National Park, onto which various data sets and final products of our analysis of last year's large forest fire will be projected. For this purpose, we are cooperating directly with the National Park Centre in Bad Schandau, two of whose representatives will also be on site. In addition, the current topic of forest fire research will be presented to the public in various video and image formats. Furthermore, we will exhibit historical CORONA aerial imagery from 1965 and 1975 to show land cover changes in Saxony and make them visually accessible. And the somewhat younger visitors will also get their money's worth. So feel free to drop by and engage with us! You will find us in the foyer of the TU Dresden Hörsaalzentrum (main lecture hall), right next to the entrance. You can find more information about our institute's booth here. There you can also add the event to your personal watch list. We look forward to seeing you!
