Orientation Week WiSe 26/27
The events for the Freshers' Introduction Week (ESE) will take place this year from October 5 to October 10, 2026.
The ESE is aimed at all first-semester students, whether you are starting a Bachelor's or Master's degree. You can look forward to a varied programme where you can meet your fellow students, make new connections, and get an insight into your studies and everyday student life.

Bridge courses
To brush up on your Abitur knowledge and prepare you for the start of various modules, TU Dresden offers preparatory courses in the weeks before the start of lectures. These are the so-called bridge courses in mathematics, physics and chemistry, as well as the online preparation courses in mathematics, physics and computer science. It is particularly worthwhile for our first-semester Bachelor students to take a look at these courses.

On Monday, October 5, you can get to know each other over breakfast and chat with your future mentors about your upcoming studies over a cup of tea or coffee. No idea what mentors are? Feel free to check out the page about the Mentoring Programme. You are also very welcome to join us if you are still undecided.

On Monday, October 5, directly after the mentor breakfast, we will offer two registration courses. One will be held in German and the other in English. Here, we will help you with your ZIH login, setting up Wi-Fi, connecting to the VPN, and other useful university registration-related matters. The course will last approximately 1 hour.

Get-to-Know-Each-Other Evening
Hiking not your thing? No problem! You can still get to know us (the FSR Hydro) and your new fellow students on Monday, October 5! Just come along to our get-to-know-each-other evening. We will provide some games and drinks and are looking forward to seeing you!

On Tuesday, October 6, we would like to show you Dresden and the surrounding area on a hike. Please remember to wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, and bring some food and drinks with you! Since we will be travelling by public transport, please download the Deutschland-Semesterticket to your phone beforehand and bring an official photo ID (ID card or passport) with you!
Meeting point: Dresden Central Station (the platform will be announced later. We will have blue signs ;) )
Meeting time: will be announced later (around 9:00 a.m.)
Duration: approximately 6 hours (including the journey there and back by S-Bahn)
On Tuesday, October 6, you can get to know Dresden's student clubs and bars during our pub crawl. You will move through the bars in small groups.
Please remember to bring your phone with the Deutschland-Semesterticket downloaded and an official photo ID (ID card or passport), as we will be travelling by public transport.

On Wednesday, October 7, we will give the first-semester students a short tour of the campus to show you all the important buildings, help you create a SLUB account, and afterwards go to the canteen together. Please bring your student ID with you.

Duration: approximately 1 hour for the tour, followed by a visit to the canteen
Volleyball Tournament + Viking Chess
To get your team spirit going, we will organise a small outdoor volleyball tournament on Wednesday, October 7. You will compete against each other in teams and can show off your volleyball skills. The best team will win a small prize.
If you are not a big fan of volleyball, you are still very welcome to join us and try your hand at Viking Chess. Keep in mind that it can already be a bit chilly outside in October, so make sure to bring weather-appropriate clothing!

If you joined the campus tour followed by the canteen visit, we will take you directly to the volleyball courts afterwards.
Official Matriculation Ceremony / Matriculation Celebration of the Student Council
On Thursday, October 8, the student council will introduce itself in a small, informal ceremony. The matriculation ceremony will take place jointly for Bachelor’s and Master’s first-semester students. The event will last approximately 1.5 hours. Afterwards, the FSR will hand out the FSR first-semester bags, which contain some cool goodies for you.

On Friday, October 9, there will be an excursion. You will get insights into, for example, a wastewater treatment plant or a waterworks and get an early introduction to your future studies. The destination has not been decided yet. We will keep you updated!
Since we will be travelling by public transport, please download the Deutschland-Semesterticket to your phone beforehand and bring an official photo ID (ID card or passport) with you!
THE EXCURSIONS ARE STILL BEING PLANNED.
If you need a little refreshment on Friday, October 9, we invite you to round off the evening with some grilled food and drinks.

Following the city rally on Saturday, October 10, there will also be a Flunkyball tournament. If you don't know what that is, here is a highly scientific Wikipedia article.
For the tournament, we will meet at the Amphitheatre in the Großer Garten. We will provide two crates of beer; please bring any other drinks you would like yourself.
