More sustainability in the PhD Council of the TU Dresden
Between April 23 and 25, 2018, the members of the Graduate Academy at TU Dresden elected a new PhD Council. As an elected body, the PhD Students' Council is particularly committed to the interests of PhD students at the university. As the new spokesperson, Paula Penckert, together with her deputy Anne Geißler, represents the PhD Council. Both are research assistants and doctoral students at the Institute for Waste and Recycling Management. With this background, the sympathetic speaker duo has made raising awareness of sustainability issues among young scientists a particular goal of their term of office.
The PhD Council is committed to the continuous improvement of the conditions for doctoral studies at the TU Dresden and additionally serves the interdisciplinary networking of the PhD students among each other. For example, the PhD Council organizes the event "Science Beer", in which PhD students and PostDocs present their research topics to a (non-specialist) audience, then answer questions and invite discussion.
