Project description:
The Konglomerat e. V. would like to create an online platform for the mediation of leftover materials in the Dresden region with this project supported by Dresden citizens. The IAK accompanies the development of the online platform from the scientific side. The aim of this research project is to develop a methodology for identifying and evaluating suitable material flows for the online platform. This is to be realized with the help of a material flow model. Furthermore, possible polluted materials have to be identified, which are not suitable to be reused, mechanically processed and/or used in a creative way. For this purpose, different types of materials are to be analyzed for organic and inorganic pollutants, the hazard potential is to be estimated and recommendations for treatment are to be developed. Finally, the potential CO2 savings that can be achieved by reusing and recycling materials will be calculated.
Besides the mediation of material and raw materials, the material mediation can additionally raise the awareness in the population for the use of secondary raw materials and contribute to awareness raising. Furthermore, the material mediation can provide approaches to a recycling-friendly design of packaging and materials through its actions or show the adaptation pressure for this.
