New Research Project on River Bank Filtration in India
The three-year BMBF joint project, which started in July 2020, aims to expand the educational and research cooperation between Germany and India in the field of near-natural processes such as bank filtration, groundwater recharge or constructed wetlands. Among others, systematic scientific studies will be carried out at five selected Indian field sites, which have completely different boundary conditions. The results will be used to demonstrate the high potential of these natural treatment technologies for an efficient improvement of drinking water quality, including the removal of organic trace pollutants.
