Prof. Wenchao Xue Visits TU Dresden’s Institute of Water Chemistry

Tour with Prof. Wenchao Xue , Prof Stefan Stolte and Dr. Hilmar Börnick
Prof. Wenchao Xue, Associate Professor and Director of the AIT Belt and Road Research Center at the Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand), visited the Institute of Water Chemistry at TU Dresden to exchange knowledge and explore collaborative research. Her work focuses on climate-resilient water management, emerging contaminants, and advanced water monitoring and treatment systems, with particular interest in urban water infrastructure adaptation and strategies to mitigate waterborne diseases.
During her visit, Prof. Xue gave a seminar at the Institute of Water Chemistry on “Microplastics in Tropical Urban Waters: Sources, Distribution, and Pathways – A Case Study in Thailand”. She presented findings from her research in Thailand, highlighting key sources of microplastics, their distribution patterns, and analytical approaches for monitoring them. Following the seminar, she participated in a guided tour of the Institute’s laboratories and research facilities, gaining first-hand insights into ongoing projects on water treatment and contaminant monitoring.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity for knowledge exchange and fostered discussions on potential collaborations in sustainable urban water quality management. Prof. Xue’s engagement underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing global water challenges.
