REGKLAM - Climate Adaptation within the Model Region of Dresden, Saxony
The development of strategies for mitigating the regional effects of climate change has become a matter of urgency. The predicted impacts of climate change pose a challenge for all areas of public and private life. In view of this predicament, Dresden has joined forces with regional partners issuing from within politics, public administration, the economy and science for a combined, interdisciplinary research project. The objective is to develop and test an integrated regional climate adaptation programme for the region of Dresden: REGKLAM. The project is being sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) under the title KLIMZUG.
With the research based testing of - and improved development of - the integrated regional climate adaptation programme, the project aims to make a positive contribution towards climate change adaptation in Saxony
REGKLAM concentrates on three key areas for introducing its proposed measures. These areas are considered very important for the future development of the area and concern town and city structures, the infrastructure for provisioning logistics and waste management, plus urban water systems and land use.
