Hydrological Field School
During the 4th academic year the students of hydrology take part in the "große hydrologische Exkursion" which is an integrated part of the course "Regionale Hydrologie".
This field trip lasts about 10 days and includes a round trip of Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The study tour features trips and aspects dealing with karst hydrology, alpine hydrology, regional water distribution networks, lake management and the use of hydro power.
The excursion is lead by Dr. Wöhling and the staff of the hydrology department.
During the semester, lectures will introduce students to the specific topics of the excursion. Participants are split-up into small groups and each group is responsible for reporting on the topics of one day. The field notes can be supplemented by data and teaching materials supplied by the external organizations or teaching staff. After the course, the individual scientific reports are collated by all students to a single report about the field trip.
