DCUA

Within the project "DCUA - Analysis of the modification of deep convection over urban areas using radar data and mesoscale models" we apply a cell detection and tracking algorithm to radar data from Berlin to identify modifications of cells and tracks due to the urban area. Potential factors of influence (e.g. the urban heat island) will be included into a statistical model to describe the modification of cells and tracks for the current climate. The model will then be applied to detect situations with potential modifications in future projections of the climate. These situations are downscaled with a mesoscale model to assess respective effects in projections of the future climate.
