Learning Objectives
Students will be able to identify interdisciplinary connections in hydrosciences and to relate and evaluate international, regional, and local challenges within various subfields of hydrosciences.
Contents
The module’s content consists of field trips to hydroscientific facilities, operations, or institutions.
Teaching and Learning Formats
5 SWS field trip, self-study. The language of instruction for the field trip may be German or English and will be specifically determined by the lecturer at the beginning of each semester and announced in the customary manner.
Requirements for Awarding Credit Points
Credit points are awarded upon passing the module exam. The module exam consists of a comprehensive assignment totaling 16 hours.
Credits and Grades
A total of 5 credit points can be earned through this module. The module grade corresponds to the grade on the exam.
Learning Objectives
Students will be able to identify interdisciplinary connections within the field of hydrosciences and to relate and evaluate international, regional, and local issues in specific subfields of hydrosciences, particularly water resources management and hydrology.
Contents
The module includes field trips to hydroscientific facilities, operations, or institutions. Case studies addressing hydrological and water management issues and their associated regional hydrological phenomena are also part of the module.

Learning Objectives
Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the theory behind selected methods and systems for process water treatment and internal water management processes. They will be able to apply this knowledge in practice, conduct experiments, and scientifically evaluate and interpret the results.
Contents
The module covers issues related to industrial wastewater and process water treatment, as well as on-site water management, with a focus on water supply, water distribution and use, and closing the water cycle, taking into account operational practices and current developments.

2 SWS lecture, 2 SWS seminar, 1 SWS lab, self-study. The language of instruction for the lecture, seminar, and lab may be partly German or English and will be specifically determined by the lecturer at the beginning of each semester and announced in the customary manner.
Requirements for Awarding Credit Points
Credit points are awarded upon passing the module exam. The module exam consists of a 120-minute written exam and a portfolio requiring 20 hours of work.
Credits and Grades
A total of 5 credit points can be earned through this module. The module grade is calculated as the weighted average of the grades for the individual assessment components. The written exam is weighted three times, and the portfolio is weighted once.
Learning Objectives
Students will be able to analyze water quality data and, based on this analysis, select, plan, and design the best possible raw water sources, water intake facilities, and water treatment plants; evaluate the capabilities of conventional water treatment plants; and develop proposals for improvement.
Contents
The module covers the planning and design of facilities for selected treatment processes based on water quality, taking into account the operation, maintenance, and renewal of the facilities.

2 SWS lecture, 2 SWS lab, 1 SWS field trip, self-study. The language of instruction for the lecture, seminar, and field trip may be German or English and will be specifically determined by the lecturer at the beginning of each semester and announced in the customary manner.
Requirements for Awarding Credit Points
Credit points are awarded upon passing the module exam. The module exam consists of a 120-minute written exam. The student may choose to take the exam in either German or English.

Learning Objectives
Students are familiar with general topics in water management as well as related interdisciplinary subjects. They can deepen their interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of water management and apply it in their professional practice through concrete, hands-on work. Students are able to plan water management projects, use available resources in a targeted manner, implement concepts, organize tasks within a team, and present the results both in writing and orally. Students have strengthened their social and communication skills through teamwork.

The module covers topics in water management and related specialized subjects, project management, topics relevant to current research, and the completion of extensive project assignments under the guidance of the Water Management department.

8 SWS internship, self-study. The language of instruction for the internship may be German or English and is determined by the lecturer at the beginning of each semester and announced in the customary manner.

Credit points are awarded upon passing the module exam. The module exam consists of a comprehensive assignment totaling 50 hours. The language of the exam is either German or English, at the student’s discretion.

Learning Objectives
Students acquire general and interdisciplinary knowledge as well as key competencies that strengthen their skills for future practical work in their professional careers and deepen their interdisciplinary knowledge. Students are able to carry out relevant work, for example at research institutions, government agencies, water utilities, special-purpose associations, or engineering and consulting firms, and possess basic knowledge of business organization.
Contents
The module covers subject-specific practical engineering activities at institutions and companies in Germany and abroad as part of a professional internship, for example in planning and consulting firms, government agencies, industrial companies, or water and wastewater associations.
Teaching and Learning Formats
2 SWS seminar, at least 12 weeks of internship, self-study.
Requirements for Awarding Credit Points
Credits are awarded upon passing the module exam. The module exam consists of a combined term paper requiring 30 hours of work. The language of the exam is either German or English, at the student’s discretion.

Learning Objectives
Students are familiar with general topics in water management as well as interdisciplinary specialized topics beyond this scope. They are able to deepen their interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of water management and apply it in professional contexts related to water management. Students have an overview of current developments in the field and are able to present water management topics in an understandable manner, deliver oral presentations, and participate in expert discussions.

The module covers specialist presentations by external and internal advisors on current activities in the field of hydrosciences and the presentation of current research activities in the field of water management.

Requirements for Awarding Credit Points
Credit points are awarded upon passing the module exam. The module exam consists of a term paper requiring 30 hours of work and a 30-minute public oral exam administered as an individual exam. The language of the exam is either German or English, at the student’s discretion.

Students will have in-depth knowledge of management procedures and sustainable techniques for optimizing the use of water, energy, and raw materials in industry.

The module provides an overview of various management methods with a focus on integrated water, energy, and resource management, incorporating system analyses and issues related to in-house environmental protection. Sustainable production techniques—including the recovery and use of renewable energy sources, cost reductions, and cross-operational process integration (e.g., using the PINCH method)—are additional topics covered in the module.
