Mobility is one of the greatest challenges of our time. As the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, we combine research, teaching and practice to actively shape the future of mobility. Interdisciplinary mobility research across borders
Whether road, rail, air or water - we look at transportation systems and their components systemically and from a social, economic and ecological perspective.
In cooperation with neighboring disciplines, we focus on passenger and freight transport and research infrastructure, vehicles and the operation of transport systems.
Research and teaching at the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences focuses on five subject areas:

- Transport Economics and Data Science
Our mission
The "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences is the university's Competence Center for sustainable mobility.
Its interdisciplinary research covers the entire spectrum of transportation. The faculty is a pioneer in the development of systemic solutions for the design of safe, capabilities and sustainable transportation systems according to technical, economic, ecological and social criteria.
Excellent research-oriented and practice-relevant education ensures a high level of competence in the next generation, arouses enthusiasm for transportation and promotes a sense of social responsibility.
We research and teach in an interdisciplinary network within TU Dresden and the DRESDEN-concept network as well as together with national and international partners from science and practice. This ensures the transfer of research results into society.
Our vision
In 2030, the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences will be a national leader in research and teaching in the transport sector and internationally recognized.
The excellence of the research is reflected in high-ranking and highly cited publications as well as third-party funding acquired, in particular from the German Research Foundation.
The close connection between application-oriented and basic research is promoted in a targeted manner through cooperation with industry and business. Research develops innovative concepts and methods for practical problems and successfully transfers its results. Excellently equipped and networked test fields and laboratory facilities are the basis for successful research.
Thanks to its visibility and the quality of its education, the faculty is attractive to high-achieving students from all over the world. The Faculty's study programs train solution-oriented and interdisciplinary thinking graduates with a high level of technical and design competence.
