Abstract: Mainstream narratives about connected and automated vehicles argue that when technology will be mature enough for a vehicle to safely drive without the intervention of a human driver, it will be possible to achieve safer, more efficient, more equitable, and more sustainable mobility.
In reality, if on the one hand safety is likely to be improved for automated vehicles to have a business case, the other dimensions will depend on how these vehicles will be deployed. The JRC is trying to understand the potential wider implications of a connected and automated mobility, in order to support the European Commission setting the proper framework to achieve the most from it.
The lecture will be conducted in English and no prior registration is required.
