ODS23 and AI4Rails - Chair Participation
At the International Conference on Optimization and Decision Science, taking place at Ischia (Italy) from September 4th to September 7th, the Chair of Rail and Public Urban Transport engaged in an exchange with fellow researchers with a series of contributions.
Dr. Nikola Bešinović and Christopher Szymula (Chair of Traffic Flow Science) presented their work on Vulnerability envelopes for railway transport networks, as well as on Demand-driven Railway Network Capacity Assessment using Mixed Integer Programming. Co-authored by Uwe Höppner and Dr. Nikola Bešinović, Daniel Haalboom introduced a new approach on Flexible routing and resource allocations in rail freight yards. Maurice Krauth elaborated on his contribution, co-authored by Matthias Ribesmeier and Dr. Nikola Bešinović, regarding A Mode Choice Model for Sustainable Freight Transport Considering Urban Logistics Stakeholder Perspectives.
ODS 2023 also hosted AI4RAILS, organized by Nikola Besinovic, Zhiyuan Lin from University of Leeds and Andrea D'Ariano from Roma Tre. This workshop included ~20 talks and a keynote by Mathijs de Weerdt from TU Delft on Hybrid algorithms for train shunting and servicing at railway hubs. Matthias Ribesmeier, Maurice Krauth and Dr. Nikola Bešinović took part in the workshop AI4Rails with their contribution on Optimising locations of urban consolidation center for sustainable urban logistics using agent-based modelling.
The Chair would like to thank both the conference organization committee and all participants for the fruitful discussions with the inspiring backdrop of the island of Ischia.
