Eamonn Daly defending Master thesis in Air Transport and Logistics with superior grade
On April 22nd, Mr. Daly defended his master’s thesis entitled “Development of a propeller propulsion model for hybrid-electric aircraft with energy recovery strategies”, achieving a final grade of 1.0 on the German scale. This marks the conclusion of his journey as a 2-year master’s student in the Air Transport and Logistics (ATL) program at TU Dresden, Faculty of Traffic Sciences. M. Daly is meanwhile the third alumni completing the program with such superior grade.
His research focused on developing and implementing a representative model for propulsion and recuperation of hybrid-electric aircraft within a suitable software environment, relying on the Blade-Element-Momentum-Theory (BEMT).
The work was co-supervised by GfL, a company offering tailored software products to the ATM industry, i.e. to assess emissions of aircraft along the entire mission profile. Mr. Daly’s development pushes the capabilities of our suite towards inclusion of the next generation, hybrid-powered aircraft, said Markus Vogel – GfL co-supervisor.
We congratulate Mr. Daly for this great success and are wishing him all the best for his future career. It was great having had you with us, Eamonn !
