Focus on the "intelligent wing": specialist symposium on the future of aviation in Bremen
Aviation is facing a transformation: in order to become part of networked mobility, energy and safety systems, aircraft will have to operate more adaptably and intelligently in the future. At the heart of this development is the "intelligent wing" - an adaptive wing that is equipped with multifunctional control surfaces and can adapt flexibly to changing requirements.
Technologies such as modern sensor technology, new materials and manufacturing methods such as 3D printing are now making concepts that have been discussed for decades a reality. The German Aerospace Society (DGLR) therefore organized a symposium in Bremen together with the Senator for Economics, Ports and Transformation - a location with a long tradition in wing design, for example through the ADIF lead concept or the Moveables development at Airbus.
As part of the symposium, current challenges and innovative developments relating to the intelligent wing were presented and discussed in expert panels.
