New LuFo project OBSERVATOR has been launched
The OBSERVATOR project funded by the BMWi has now officially begun. OBSERVATOR pursues the goal of powerful and efficient aviation by contributing to the digitalization and acquisition of new knowledge for efficient and predictive maintenance procedures for aircraft components. The focus is on components without particular sensors, which will be modeled using virtual sensor technology. Based on existing data of the overall aircraft system (e.g. sensor technology, ground operations), a digital twin is created to deduct the component state through simulation (observer approach). For this purpose, novel overall system models are developed, which describe the correlation of different data with the state of the aircraft components and enable appropriate diagnostics and prognosis.
The project is carried out in a consortium with Lufthansa Technik, the Technische Universität Hamburg, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and the manufacturer Liebherr. Further information will be available soon on our research page.
