DFG Project launch: Real-Time capable Airline Steering & Control
Ground handling (turnaround, TA for short) comprises all the processes required to prepare an aircraft arriving at the airport for the next flight segment. The interaction and sometimes inadequate coordination of the process participants as well as the limited availability of resources develop a disruptive potential which, together with reactionary network effects in tightly timed flight schedules, are the main causes of flight delays.
The research goal is the identification and development of a supervised machine-learning-based resolution technique for the automated handling of complex situations requiring corrective actions by the airline. These are deemed to be activated for different airline networks for the mapping of dynamic situations at airports in a time-rolling manner.
The project will run for 3 years hosting two Ph.D fellows. Interested? Get in touch with us!
