Zur Re­formbedürftigkeit der FGSV - IVP Discussion Paper 16 veröffentlicht

Currently, the IVP Discussion Paper 16 regarding the topic of "The need of reforming the Road and Transportation Research Association (Zur Reformbedürftigkeit der Forschungsgesellschaft für Straßen- und Verkehrswesen e.V.)" was pubslihed. Within the Paper, the autors Prof. Dr. Becker from the Chair of Transport Ecology and Prof. Dr. Schwedes from the Department of Integrated Transport Planning at the TU Berlin submit a Plea for a representative procedure in setting guidelines in road transport (Plädoyer für ein repräsentatives Verfahren bei der Festlegung von Richtlinien im Straßenverkehr).

The Road and Transportation Research Association (FGSV) is one of the most influential organisations in the field of German transport politics. Transport planning is committed to its recommended practice and coins transport development. Against the background of societal change towards sustainable development, the question arises, whether well-established organisations such as the FGSV are prepared for the related new requirements. In the case of the FGSV, the need for innovations has been expressed several times in recent years without an appropriate response. In this paper, we give insight into the FGSV and reflect on its role in the societal context. The aim is to support a reform debate, which we believe is necessary, and which should aim at democratising the German associa-tion of transport planning.
