Presenting Our Delivery Rider Survey at ICTCT 2026 in Zagreb

Last week, Juliane Anke and Simon Heintzen presented the poster “Platform work by bicycle: Road safety of delivery riders in Germany” at the ICTCT 2026 conference in Zagreb, Croatia.

The poster presents results (link to the report in German) from the first comprehensive survey of bicycle delivery riders in Germany, covering crash involvement, equipment, safety behavior, and related topics. Bicycle delivery work has grown rapidly in recent years, yet little is known about the risks these riders face on the road. Our findings help close this gap and provide a basis for evidence-based safety measures.

We thank the German Road Safety Council (Deutscher Verkehrssicherheitsrat, DVR) for funding this research and making the survey possible. We also thank the organizers for a very well-run and inspiring conference. The conversations at our poster gave us plenty of food for thought and new ideas for the next steps of our research. It was also a pleasure to meet former colleagues again in Zagreb.
