Research Areas of the Chair
The research focuses on the partially overlapping areas of telecommunications (fixed network, mobile radio and broadband), transport (motorised individual traffic, public transport, new concepts) and information technology. As part of the Institute of Transport and Economics of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, the Chair focuses on the interface between communication (in the sense of information) and mobility.
Research Areas of the Chair
Given the background of a social change in values in the direction of resource efficiency and environmental relief, mobility today is no longer seen as an alternative choice between individual means of transport, but rather in their combination. To this end, the following aspects, among others, are being addressed in various industrial and research projects:
- Requirement analyses and acceptance studies for mobility and information services
- Business models and profitability calculations for transport and mobility concepts
- Market entry and positioning strategies for mobility services
- Process analysis of traffic services and their representation with digital solutions
- Design of applications and user interfaces for traffic information systems
Traditionally, competition policy and regulatory economic issues in the telecommunications market are another focus of the Chair of Information and Communication Business Management & Economics. These include, among others, the subject areas:
- Broadband expansion in rural areas - financing, promotion and analysis of expansion projects
- Potential analysis for telecommunication services
