Mr. Ankit Chaudhari Represented rl-dresden at NHR Conference '26 in Paderborn
Our Chair of Applied Statistics member Ankit Chaudhari presented our RL Dresden group ( www.rl-dresden.de ) at the NHR Conference '26 in Paderborn on September 14-15, 2026.
Our poster, "Scaling Deep Reinforcement Learning and Stochastic Modeling: From Simulation to Real-World Deployment," brought together 5+ years of the group's research, covering how we've used High-Performance Computing to tackle data-driven optimization challenges across three domains:
- Maritime autonomy: RL agents that navigate inland waterways despite shallow water effects and strong currents, collision-risk estimation and working with noisy AIS trajectory data
- Automotive autonomy: closing the sim-to-real gap for autonomous driving, calibrating vehicle-following models and working on (MiTra) traffic trajectory data
- Finance: correcting parameter bias in stochastic processes using neural networks trained on millions of parallel Monte Carlo simulations
The common thread across all three: none of this works without serious The computer behind it.
Thanks to the RL Dresden members: Dr. Fabian Hart , Dr. Martin Waltz , Dr. Niklas Paulig , Dr. Dianzhao Li , Haozhe Jiang for their contribution and to Prof. Dr. Ostap Okhrin for the guidance and support. Also grateful to Technical University of Dresden , ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig and TUD | CIDS – Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences , NHR Association, NHR Alliance for their support.
