Talk by Prof. Timo Teräsvirta on North Atlantic Oscillation's Impact on European Precipitation
The Institute of Economics and Transport at TU Dresden hosted a brown bag seminar featuring a talk by Prof. Timo Teräsvirta on the topic: "The effect of the North Atlantic Oscillation on monthly precipitation in selected European locations: A nonlinear time series approach."
With a remarkable academic career, Prof. Teräsvirta has made substantial contributions to the field of time-series analysis. He worked closely with Clive Granger (the 2003 Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences for developing Granger causality). From 2002 to 2010, Prof. Teräsvirta served as a member of the prize committee for the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, showcasing his profound influence and recognition in the field of economics.
The seminar provided valuable insights into the application of advanced statistical methods to environmental and climatic data, demonstrating the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing global challenges.
