AVEC 2026 in Tsukuba

The Chair of Automobile Engineering at TU Dresden participated in AVEC 2026 – the 17th International Symposium on Advanced Vehicle Control – in Tsukuba, Japan.

Tobias Schramm presented current research results from the chair in a technical presentation. In addition, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günther Prokop gave a keynote speech entitled “Driving Simulation – Take it to the Next Level”.

The keynote focused on the Dresden Driving Simulator and its unique concept as a self-driving simulator platform. Prof. Prokop explained how its freely moving platform enables the realistic reproduction of dynamic driving maneuvers and sustained accelerations.

He also presented the Smart Mobility Lab at TU Dresden and the complete toolchain for the development and validation of ADAS and automated driving functions. This toolchain ranges from data-driven scenario generation, vehicle dynamics and driver behavior models to microscopic traffic simulation, driving simulation, Vehicle-in-the-Loop testing and cyber-physical testing. Another key aspect was the evaluation of scenarios and simulation models in terms of risk coverage, representativeness and simulation credibility.

AVEC 2026 provided an excellent platform for scientific exchange and for presenting current research from TU Dresden in the fields of driving simulation, vehicle control and automated driving.
