Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU), in collaboration with the Technical University of Dresden (TUD), has officially launched a newly funded Erasmus+ Learning Mobility Project with a successful kickoff meeting.
The event brought together senior officials and academic representatives from both institutions, representing an important milestone in expanding their international academic partnership.
The project was jointly secured through the efforts of AASTU’s Sustainable Energy Center of Excellence, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer (VPRTT), and TU Dresden. It is designed to create mobility opportunities for students and staff, while encouraging knowledge exchange, collaborative research, and institutional development.
As part of the meeting, both universities introduced their institutional profiles and highlighted their main areas of expertise. Participants emphasized the growing importance of global academic cooperation in enhancing educational quality and research impact.
Worke Woldesemayat, Director of the Erasmus+ Learning Mobility Program, also delivered a detailed presentation on the initiative. She outlined the program’s goals, application processes, and anticipated outcomes, while sharing practical insights and best practices. Furthermore, she highlighted the range of opportunities available to both students and academic staff through the mobility scheme.
Following the kickoff session for the mobility grants, a workshop on “Integrating Sustainable Engineering” is scheduled to take place later today.
The initiative is expected to play a key role in advancing AASTU’s international engagement and strengthening education and research in the field of sustainable engineering.
