ITVS Team Showcased Research Despite 42 °C Heat

Despite scorching temperatures reaching 42 °C (108 °F), the Open Construction Site Day at the Smart Mobility Lab (SML) attracted a large number of visitors. The event offered a unique opportunity to explore the future research facilities and learn about cutting-edge mobility research at TU Dresden.

The team from the Chair of Information Technologies for Traffic Systems (ITVS) presented several research demonstrators and provided insights into ongoing research activities. One of the highlights was the demonstration of 3D printing technologies, showcasing how functional prototypes and customized components are manufactured for research and development.

Another major attraction was the live demonstration of GNSS jamming and spoofing scenarios for autonomous drones. Visitors experienced how intentional interference and manipulation of navigation signals can affect autonomous systems and learned about the innovative methods being developed at ITVS to increase the resilience and reliability of future autonomous mobility solutions.

In addition, the team demonstrated an AI-based camera system capable of detecting and classifying road users in real time. The presentation illustrated how modern artificial intelligence can contribute to safer and more efficient automated transportation systems.

The event was characterized by a lively exchange between researchers and visitors. Despite the extreme heat, the strong attendance and great interest in the presented technologies made the Open Construction Site Day a complete success for the Smart Mobility Lab and the ITVS team.
