Professional advice and assistence for the environmental management system at the TU Dresden
Table of contents
Since January 8th, 2003 the TU Dresden is registered in the EMAS-Record at the EMAS Record at the Chamber of Trade and Commerce [IHK Dresden]. The TU Dresden is the first technical university with an environmental management system which is validated according to the EMAS regulations [Registrierungsurkunde]. This validation comes especially due to the successful completion of the project "Multiplier-Effects and Implementation of the Eco-Audit according to EMAS II in Academic Facilities (at the Example of the TU Dresden". Nevertheless, the implementation of an environmental management system can only be the first step in the process. In the future, the main work will be to maintain and improve the system. To deal with this task, an environmental management officer has been appointed by the head of the university. This officer is supported by the environmental coordinator, the work group which supports the EMS of TU Dresden, and the Environment Commission. The Chair of Environmental Management is a member of the work group and supports the environmental management officer with professional advice and assistance concerning environmental management.
The main succes of TU Dresden to become known as environmental university is its registration at the Saxony Environtental Alliance on July, 8th 2003.
