Never invest in a business you cannot understand - Financial analyst report 2019

As Warren Buffet once said, “Never invest in a business you cannot understand”, four teams of four to five students presented their projects in the case study “Financial analyst report” at the chair of business management esp. management accounting and control on January 31^th 2019. In this course, the students take the role of an equity analyst asked by an investor to value a particular company. Besides an analysis of the strategic position of the company, the students conducted a financial statement analysis and finally a full valuation of the company. This course combines the knowledge obtained in the following courses: “Financial statement analysis”, “Strategic management and control” and “Business valuation and value based management”. Additionally, this intensive case study prepares the student to solve the operational and strategic issues in the future. The 20 minutes presentation was followed by a 40 minutes detailed discussion with the members of the chair. In this year case study, Netflix and Tesla were the companies of interest.
