Dr. Hüske and Mr. Roos at the Hamburg Sustainable Development Summit 2017
The Hamburg Sustainable Development Summit (HSDS) 2017, organized by the Center for a Sustainable University at the University of Hamburg, focused on aspects of sustainable development at Higher Education Institutions. The HSDS conference was initiated for the first time to offer a broad international network platform for sustainability initiatives and projects. For the first time the HSDS brought together several academic sustainability networks, like the Copernicus Alliance, the HOCH-N Network whereas the European Postgraduate Symposium on Sustainable Development. A special focus was given on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within education, research, governance, operation and outreach initiatives. The Chair of Environmental Management and Accounting participated at the conference and gave contribution by two presentations to the topics:
- Accounting and Sustainability Assessment at Higher Education Institutions (Nicolas Roos)
- Barriers and Success Factors of a Sustainable Campus Operation (Anne-Karen Hüske)
Furthermore, the Chair presented one poster as a part of the conference’s HOCH-N network day about the current status auf their research on campus operation.
A key result of the conference is a planned letter to the minister of bologna process to anchor Education for Sustainable Development in the curricular of Higher Education Institutions.
