Adaptation behaviour for climate change - cooperation in education and research with Russia on the climate consciousness of the population
Table of contents
Aim of the project
The research project aims to analyse the awareness as well as the concernment of impacts of climate change (extreme weather events such as heavy precipitation or heat waves) in different areas of life (living or mobility). Furthermore, it is of interest if consumers have planned or already implemented adaptation actions to these impacts. A field study in three Russian cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Yekaterinburg) will be compared with (already collected) data from a German city. Commonalities and differences of adaptation behaviour in Germany and Russia will be analysed according to individual attitudes, social norms, as well as perceived concernment. The results of this cross-cultural comparative analysis will contribute to the development of appropriate adaptation strategies for policy and economy.
Method
Within the bilateral cooperation a questionnaire will be developed. The basis is a questionnaire that was used within a survey of the consumers of Dresden within the research project REGKLAM (Development and testing of an integrated regional climate adaptation program for the model region Dresden). Individual interviews that follow a standardised questionnaire survey will be conducted in the Russian cities. Together with Russian partners, the data will be analysed concerning the adaptation behaviour of German and Russian consumers.
