Open Interdisciplinary Planning Competition for Universities in Cooperation with Planning Offices "Effizienzhaus Plus im Altbau"
Table of contents
The TU Dresden took part in an open interdisciplinary planning competition for universities in cooperation with planning offices "Effizienzhaus Plus im Altbau" (efficient house plus in an old building). It was tendered by the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Construction, and Urban Development. The objective was to develop a concept that enables the modernisation of buildings to the level of plus energy houses. For this, the building should be capable of providing all its residents solely through renewable energy produced on site. The entire contribution to the competition was carried out under the leadership of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Clemens Felsmann from the Chair of Building Energy Systems and Heat Supply. The Chair of Environmental Management and Accounting participated under the topic “Recycling, Nachnutzung und Materialkonzept” (Recycling, Reuse and Material Concept).
The aim of this partial participation was to:
- develop an ecological material concept, while taking into consideration the waste hierarchy in the EU Waste Framework Directive,
- design an isolation concept which regards the conservation of resources and minimal heat use
- and to develop a concept for estimating heat consumption
