Recognizing AI content through intuition: Short Q&A with Dr. Katharina Fellnhofer and Prof. Dr. Lars Hornuf
Whether texts from large language models such as ChatGPT or AI-generated videos and photos, artificial intelligence (AI) is playing an increasingly important role. In a joint study, Dr. Katharina Fellnhofer and Prof. Dr. Lars Hornuf investigated how well people are able to recognize AI-generated content with the help of their intuition. The participants were shown images, audio and text. In a short period of time, they had to decide whether the content was genuine or generated by artificial intelligence. It was found that the ability to recognize AI content can be improved through practice. In addition, participants who stated that they were particularly confident in recognizing artificial intelligence performed worse.
