TU Dresden at the 8th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Economic Sciences
Valentin Lindlacher and Daniel Vrankar took part in the 8th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Economic Sciences from August 25-30, 2025.
The start of the conference on Tuesday, including a high-caliber opening panel - with Mario Draghi (former ECB President and former Prime Minister of Italy) and José Manuel Barroso (former President of the European Commission and former Prime Minister of Portugal), among others - already gave a foretaste of the top academic and political figures who had agreed to exchange ideas with young scientists. Over the following days, the conference offered a mixture of thematic panels, lectures by Nobel Prize winners and presentations by young economists. Numerous exchange formats - Open Exchanges, Lunch Meetings and Science Walks - enabled direct dialog with laureates.
Daniel Vrankar, for example, used his lunch meeting with Robert C. Merton to discuss portfolio allocation issues, while Valentin Lindlacher took part in an Open Exchange with Eric S. Maskin and also attended a lunch meeting with Paul Romer.
In total, more than 19 Nobel Laureates in Business Administration and Economics were represented - supplemented by two Laureates in Physics, one Laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize and the winner of the ACM Prize in Computing. Among the participants were luminaries such as Douglas W. Diamond, Joshua D. Angrist, Jean Tirole and Joseph E. Stiglitz.
For those who were unable to attend, recordings of the lectures are available in the media library:
