Profile
Entrepreneurship
The subject areas "Corporate Transaction" and "Financing with Venture Capital" are particularly geared toward the designing of technologically oriented business ventures and the specifics in managing new businesses. The practical application of all the acquired skills having to do with managing the formation of a company takes place in the seminars "Practical Aspects of Managing New Companies" and "Current Themes within Managing New Companies". Graduates will learn the career model "Self-Employment/Entrepreneurship" as well as the model "Employees in an established business". Possible applications for graduates come from not only new, but also well-established businesses. Yet another specific case of applying the learned skills is with financial intermediaries with a focus on new businesses (i.e. Venture Capital-Companies, Banks). The subsequent self-employment of graduates is hoped-for and eligible for assistance.
Innovation
The subject areas "Innovation and Product Management" and "Technology Management" impart to students majoring in business economics or technology the necessary skills and practical abilities for goal-oriented management of innovation processes and thereby enable them to independently conceptualize and realize innovative solutions. In particular, the students are prepared for managerial tasks in the area of research and development, the utilization of technology, tasks in project management, and in the strategic planning of companies.
Fundamentals of Technologically Oriented Business Economics
In addition to its own specific subjects, the chair offers the basic course "Fundamentals of Technologically Oriented Business Economics" for listeners of all faculties, undergraduates of the business sciences, and students in studying for their Diplom. The lecture provides an overview of the general business problem areas. The students will thereby be introduced particularly to the following areas of business: fundamental terminology and principles of business, the company as the object of business, innovational and trade mark rights, legal structures, project management, production and acquisition, market and competition, service management, marketing, controlling, technology management, personnel, organization, and finance.
Academic Work
In addition to the business content in the fields of entrepreneurship, innovation, and fundamentals of technologically oriented business economics, we also offer courses in the field of academic work. During the course of the bachelor/basic studies, students are also able to learn the basics of academic work in the AQUA Mentoring Program and "Academic and Practical Work", and in the master/main studies we offer, accompanying the thesis, a research seminar, in which these themes are explored more deeply.
