Industrial Management at the EURO 25

EURO 2025 in Leeds
The 50th anniversary edition of the EURO conference took place in Leeds from June 22 to 25, 2025. To mark the anniversary, international researchers gathered to discuss current developments, innovative methods, and practical applications in operations research.
Prof. Dr. Udo Buscher and Daniel Miodowski from the Chair of Industrial Management actively participated in the conference and presented their current research work.
Prof. Dr. Udo Buscher presented a newly developed branch-and-cut algorithm for the Three-Dimensional Loading Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem. The presented algorithm combines constraint programming and a heuristic packing method for verifying vehicle loads with a set-partitioning-based heuristic to improve route plans effectively.
Daniel Miodowski presented a planning model for deploying machines and personnel in railroad construction1. The aim is to complete as many construction orders as possible within a planning horizon for a given use of resources. The approach presented combines routing and shift planning elements in two alternative model formulations.
