Identification and Analysis of the Interactions Between Planning Stages in Regional Rail Transport
The project focuses on the entire planning process of railway passenger transport. It consists of the subtasks of timetable and rolling stock planning as well as crew scheduling and crew rostering, whereby these four differ greatly from one another in their respective influenceability, complexity and the target criteria used. The possible solutions of a planning stage are influenced to a large extent by the preceding planning.
The aim of the project is therefore to identify and analyse the interactions between the individual target criteria within one as well as several planning stages. In this way, the respective dependencies and effects on preceding and subsequent planning stages can be summarised and recommendations for a more integrated overall planning process can be derived. For this purpose, interviews will be conducted with various experts from DB Regio AG in order to analyse existing planning processes and interfaces. These will then be compared with current research results on key indicators and interactions of the (integrated) planning stages. At the end of the project, the results will be brought together and initial recommendations for action will be deduced.
