Post-doctoral dissertation project (cumulative): blurring of work boundaries, recognition in organizations
Research field I: Blurring of work boundaries
This field of research addresses different forms and effects of the blurring of work boundaries. The removal of boundaries between the operational and market coordination of performance processes (market-based performance control), between employees‘ working and living environment (flexibilization) and an increasing blurring between the status as private individual and employee (subjectivication of work) are examined in terms of their consequences at the individual and organizational level.
Research field II: Recognition in organizations
Within this field of research we examine reference ranges, forms of expression, dimensions and effects of recognition in organizations. It is assumed that human beings are dependent on recognition in order to develop self-reference, identity and confidence in their actions. An employment is regarded to constitute an important source for recognition experience. Our research is based on socio-philosophical and socio-psychological theories of recognition. We are interested in behavioral effects of (non-) recognition and typical recognition practices in enterprises from different areas (e.g. financial services) or within individual occupational groups (e.g. personnel managers).
